Staff Development Committee

The Division of Student Life Staff Development Committee is responsible for providing opportunities for connection, community, and learning to Division staff members.

Our vision is to provide a well-rounded experience for DSL staff members so that they enjoy their work, appreciate staff development opportunities, connect with colleagues across the Division, and gain skills to further their good work here or elsewhere.

Do Know Harm

This is a tremendous opportunity to keep informed about what we all can do to keep students safe at U of I.   This workshop will provide an overview of the potential harms for students; alcohol abuse, interpersonal violence, etc., supported by data, research in this area, trends, causes and past efforts.  It will inform you about the U of I plans and services in place to prevent harm and provide you with resources available to refer students. No registration required.

DSL Night at Iowa Baseball

Tuesday, 4/30/19, 6:05 PM, Duane Banks Field

Come enjoy a fun night at the ball park! Cheer on the Iowa Hawkeye Baseball Team against Western Illinois. Tickets are free to DSL Staff and their families.  Be sure to bring your Iowa One ID with the DSL sticker on the back. Be there early to watch Dr. Melissa Shivers throw out the ceremonial first pitch.


The Staff Development Committee is open to Graduate, Merit, and Professional & Scientific staff members within the Division of Student Life regardless of job classification.
